Sounds like a plan that might work.

That said, if you can’t change the locks on your own property it’s not really your property. Freedom must be taken, not given, and it takes ongoing effort to preserve it.

Unfortunately, you can’t just change the locks, leave and go back to your own house. You or someone you trust have to stay there for a while to make it appear occupied, maybe with at least a baseball bat as well, after changing the locks. Or put up cameras to alert for trespassers that you must go there and deal with immediately.
