Yep.
I have a friend that is a physical therapist - she contracted Whooping Cough from one of her patients.
She told me she broke three ribs from coughing so much and was never so miserable in her life - cough medicine doesn’t touch Whooping Cough.
We’ve had a number of cases in California in recent years, I was exposed in the classroom to it - Thank God I didn’t get it, it is highly contagious. Any new enrollee in the school had to show proof of Whooping Cough vaccination or they were not admitted.
I broke a rib from coughing. Turned out I was highly allergic to cottonwood trees, and we had three in our backyard. If it hadn’t been for that bout, I might never have sought out allergy tests, but it’s a good thing I did. I learned I was allergic to many pollens and tree molds, grasses, etc. as well as cats. I had to get allergy shots every week for 2 years.
One broken rib was awful. I can’t imagine having three broken. Every breath was so painful.
