I have a hard time seeing how this is harmful....in a sane and humane world, people would have the right to freely associate with whomever they want (which necessarily means not associating with those whom they don’t want). But I guess that’s pretty much a dream
Being non-white is her day job!
Jew-bashing has become extremely fashionable.
Again.
Meanwhile, we are re-defining MORE terms & phrases like:
* Vaccine
* Never Again!
* Love
* Family
I belonged to an all Jewish Golf and Country club back in the 80s that was exactly like this.
They are different groups if the topic is discrimination law. Jews are a legally protected class, in a category separate from whites.
Hillcrest was started by Jews in the motion picture business because they were excluded from the prominent Gentile club. Rather than explicitly ban Jews as such, the Gentile clubs banned anyone in “show business” - show business being populated almost exclusively by Jews.
Token?
I think it's illegal to be "exclusive" in the sense of excluding of protected classes. Which means you can't exclude anyone other than straight, white, gentile men.
+1
Of course! But you wouldn’t think they would keep blacks out!!
Ha! Spot on.
I bet Kamala isn’t listed as “black” on her membership form.
I'm guessing they don't list race on the membership form. That would be gauche.
Los Angeles Country Club and the Jonathan Country Club would not admit Jewish people as members, no matter how well qualified or distinguished. Eventually, some Jews got together and created the Hillcrest Country Club in 1920 so they would have a place they could join.
Despite all efforts, the LACC continued to discriminate against Jewish people clear into the 1980’s (when I lost track...but perhaps other FRers can update for us).
“Whoreizontal” VP Harris!
Typical elitist Leftardism— ‘good for thee but not for me’.
They never seem to lead by example or practice what they preach. Biggest hypocrites on the planet, bar none.
“Member: Kamala Harris. Cherokee”
Every big city has at least one club that is still mostly Jewish and was entirely or nearly entirely Jewish for most of the 20th century. The better the club, the higher percentage it remains Jewish. Hillcrest is that club for LA - nothing special about it.
The allegation of bias against a member because his wife is Hispanic is almost certainly bogus. For younger members (and that’s under 60 for a place like Hillcrest) that’s got to be at least 10% of the wives, if not more.
The reason why there were Jewish country clubs was because the Jews were not allowed in the nicer country clubs in cities across the United States. Jews and black were not allowed so they opened their own clubs.
Almost every major metropolitan city has a Jewish country club that today is accepting of all memberships but again they are private clubs and you have to be sponsored by a member to join.
For instance, in the St. Louis area, the top country clubs did not allow Jews so in the 1910 timeframe they created their own club and it’s still in the top three or four clubs in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
