Immigration IS good, provided it is controlled and regulated.
1. It MUST BE MERIT BASED as defined by the needs of the US economy.
2. Those allowed entry will be required to meet specified language and education/skill levels within 5 years. If not, the immigration window closes, all social services are revoked, and the individual(s) are deported.
3. Student & work VISAs are permissible for qualified individuals but end dates must be enforced with strict deportation requirements.
4. There will be no extended family or anchor baby exceptions.
Your terms are good except for one thing:
I would impose an annual fee payable by the employer (say $50,000 in advance per foreign worker per year). That way if the foreign worker has an absolutely critical skill we NEED and have a shortage of domestically or if the foreign worker is a superstar like Elon Musk who is worth having, then by all means, take them. In fact, companies can bring in as many as they like provided they pay the fee. The goal is to make foreign workers......key words here........MORE EXPENSIVE to employ than it would to hire an American for that same job.
So long as they are MORE EXPENSIVE for companies to hire, then companies will not abuse the system to undercut American workers and push down wages like they do now. That’s not the free market. That’s rigging the game against American workers.
