Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Monday raised concerns about efforts to ban Chinese-owned social media app TikTok in the U.S., saying it would only serve to empower Meta ’s Facebook platform.
“Without TikTok, you can make Facebook bigger, and I consider Facebook to be an enemy of the people,” ***
Acknowledging his concerns around national security and data privacy over TikTok, Trump said, “there’s a lot of good and there’s a lot of bad” with the platform.
“There are a lot of people on TikTok that love it. There are a lot of young kids on TikTok who will go crazy without it,” Trump said.

TikTok, which is owned by Chinese internet giant ByteDance, has exploded in popularity over the last few years, becoming an international sensation with its short videos.
It has also led regulators to fear that the software’s Chinese ownership would mean that it could share private user data at the request of the Beijing government.
ByteDance, like other Chinese companies, would be forced to disclose such information if asked to do so, experts say. China’s National Intelligence Law of 2017 requires organizations and citizens to “support, assist and cooperate with the state intelligence work.”
In 2020, the Trump administration unsuccessfully tried to have TikTok removed from app stores in the U.S. due to these concerns. Trump subsequently ordered ByteDance to divest TikTok within 90 days. This effort, which at one point saw Microsoft put a bid in for TikTok’s U.S. business, also never came to fruition.

All this fulminating about China. Ever notice? DC never worries about our food coming from China, about China running Hollywood, about the iPhone in their hand being assembled in China with god only knows what kind of backdoors, etc.
They don’t care about that because it isn’t about protecting American consumers. Or national security. It’s about DC being able to get access to data, and about DC retaining the ability to suppress dissent.

Don’t be a tool. The US government doesn’t care anything about child porn, child rape, the most degrading and barbaric content on Facebook Instagram or Twitter. They don’t care about porn and books in schools instructing children how to cut their dick off or give blow jobs.
But that government is looking out for my best interest now. Laughable. The problem with TikTok is that the US government can’t control it, and can’t force it to sensor as conservatives use it
I would recommend trying tick-tock. I only tried it because all this controversy came up. So last summer I thought I would do something insane. I would look at it and judge for myself. You know the way assertion of Facebook or Twitter leads you pissed off? Anxious at the very least? A session on TikTok leaves you in a good mood, leaves you with thoughtful things you need to be considering etc. If you don’t like something you press the button and you don’t see any more of it if you like something you give it a like and you’ll start to see more of that kind of content. Within a day or two you’ll see all kinds of cool creative cooking ideas, Bible verses, short videos of Reagan, positive things about Trump, happy little short videos of families living a traditional lifestyle, having children, the benefits of wife’s staying at home and taking care of their family, literature, history, you name it. It’s not the sewer that Facebook is or Instagram,. And it doesn’t encourage a lot of interaction between people. If you post some thing you won’t see all the toxic comments if a Lib Tarde doesn’t like it. You’ll only see peoples comments on it if you open them up and look for them. But if you don’t care what people think about it you don’t even have to get into a lot of back-and-forth arguments. I would encourage you to give it a short try, after you do, you will see that DC has been lying to us again.

As Donald Trump reverses his position on potentially banning TikTok ahead of an expected House vote this week on legislation that could lead to it being blocked in the U.S., the former president has been rebuilding his relationship with a GOP megadonor who reportedly has a major financial stake in the popular social media platform.
Trump met with the donor, hedge fund manager Jeff Yass, earlier this month at a Club for Growth donor retreat in Palm Beach, Florida, on March 1.
