Passengers were thrown to the roof of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner during a sudden altitude loss that resulted in at least 50 people being injured Monday on a LATAM Airlines flight.
The plane experienced a technical issue that caused "strong movement" on the flight from Sydney, Australia, to Auckland, New Zealand, according to The New Zealand Herald.
Of the approximately 50 people who were injured, a dozen were transported to local hospitals and one person was left in serious condition. The injuries included broken bones and head and neck injuries, per passenger Brian Jokat.
Jokat said the plane "just dropped" just over halfway through the flight.
Another passenger, identified as Daniel, said the incident was so chaotic it was difficult to tell whether the plane's interior was splattered with blood or wine.

The way the bolts were actually missing and the absence of any records of who worked on that door makes you wonder if it could have been intentional.

Another tragic breakdown in law enforcement? Back in the day this event would have been intensely investigated and whoever was responsible, if sabotage was proved, would have been escorted to the slammer for a 5/10-year stay.
The CEO is a drag queen.
Seriously.
No, see, they don’t care about blacks or any other person, either. They only care that if it’s a white then hurt them, otherwise, they couldn’t care less.
You are correct. I forgot about that.
All say that apart from the 737 Max issues a couple of years ago AND the DOOR PLUG blowout, all this recent stuff appears to fall on poor maintenance.
My concerns about flying commercial (which I do with some frequency) are crew training, maintenance QC, bird strikes, and bogus parts, among a few other minor considerations.
I'd love to see cleaner aircraft interiors and I do miss traveling with cleaner passengers.
Charge the passengers more for the amusement park ride.
Agree.
The 787 is roomy enough that you could have 20+ people in various lines waiting to use the restrooms. Those people could have landed on other passengers wearing their seatbelts, etc. Just speculating...
If someone didn’t make a write up like they were supposed to, there wouldn’t be any.
Something is up!! This is getting ALL too COMMON!!!
Stupid is as stupid does.
NO EXCUSE! WHY WEREN’T YOU WEARING YOUR SEAT BELT?
The CEO is a drag queen.
Seriously.

The CEO of United Scott Kirby has been filmed in drag.
Fly by wire means there are no direct connections between the yoke and rudder pedals to the control surfaces. Instead, the inputs are routed through a flight computer that interprets the pilots inputs and then moves the control surfaces as necessary.
The General Dynamics F-16 fighter jet and Airbus A320 airliner are the first mass produced fly by wire aircraft for the military and commercial markets markets respectively, but nowadays pretty much all aircraft available are fully or partially FBW.
Note that the Boeing 737 retains some mechanical controls and is not fully FBW.
Kind of the aircraft equivalent of a rouge wave in the ocean.
It happens very rarely but when it does it's pretty dramatic.
First, one doesn’t fly around the passenger compartment if one has a seatbelt on.
Second, the passenger isn’t flung around the passenger compartment or into the ceiling if without seatbelt.
It is the plane that is being flung into the head(or other contact part of body) of the passenger.
Circled around the airport a couple times and came in to land.
The fly-by-wire system locked up, pilots completely lost control and it did an automatic "landing" into a forest a few miles away.
Technical problem - possible un-commanded pitch or roll inputs?
It is the plane that is being flung into the head(or other contact part of body) of the passenger.
LOL, physics is hard.
I was going to say the same thing. Sheesh, you would think nobody on FR ever flew before.
