Illinois clerks concerned about taxpayer cost, voter confidence over ranked choice voting

County clerks shared their concerns with an Illinois task force looking into the possibility of changing how elections are conducted.

Ranked-choice voting allows people to rank the candidates, with "one" being their favorite. The votes are tallied in rounds. If no candidate wins a majority of voters' first-choices, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, according to information from FairVote, an organization that advocates for ranked-choice voting.

Some states have banned the process like Idaho, Tennessee, Montana and Florida. In Illinois, a task force is looking at implementing the idea.

The Illinois Ranked-Choice Voting and Election Systems Task Force continues to meet to get feedback about possibly launching such a system in 2028.

Gray also worried transparent, accurate and expedited results and trust and confidence in the system could be impacted.

. . . as we know, that’s a design feature, not a bug.

And they think that the ballots that turned up for joe with no down ticket votes were strange and ? Mysterious?
Now the effect will multiply the effectiveness of such votes in that it not only gives a vote to cheat in one candidate but takes votes from the remainder.
Stop this idiocracy!

If they implement RCV here, that’s the last straw. I’m finding a job out of state and staying with a friend. I’m sick of this corruption.

HB 4198 just passed out of the IL House Elections Committee.

HB 4198 provides that each election authority may decide to mail a LIVE vote by mail ballot to all qualified voters instead of sending notices and applications for permanent vote by mail status.

A person who has never voted before may not be sent a vote by mail ballot until that person has provided the election authority with sufficient proof of identity and the election authority has verified the person’s proof of identity.

Presumably, some Election authorities may decide to continue running elections the way they have been doing. Thus, resulting in unequal treatment based on where someone lives. More importantly, vote by mail is the least secure way to vote!

There are very few incidents where the R candidate wins against a D candidate if RCV is being used. Historically in places where the vote tallys of an election typically reflected the political mix of that area, the introduction of RCV instantly began to favor the leftist candidates and continues to do so. That is because there are two or three methods to ‘game’ the RCV system.

Not to mention that re-assigning votes from candidate to candidate would seem to infringe on the one man one vote guarantee in the Constitution ... not that the communist left cares much about that document.

This whole ‘ranked choice’ scheme is nothing but another lefturd plan to secure their lock on power and control.
Stop the silliness!

One (legal) person, one vote. Take a stand. Make a friggin choice. Or, just stay home and let the adults in the room take care of things.

Maine, Alaska, NYC, CA (though they call it something else) all have that type of voting for a reason...

RCV also provides a handy excuse for the use of RCV-enabled electronic voting machines.

BTW, why do states that don’t have any type of RCV still use RCV-enabled electronic voting machines...? 🤔
