This was the column that got Derbyshire fired from National Review. He spoke too much truth.
Yep. Got it saved, since he wrote it.
Derbyshire is dead on correct. A lot of people, including many on FR, reflexively want to deny the truth that he spells out in fear of being labeled as racist. Truth is truth, regardless how uncomfortable it may be.
I canceled my National Review subscription and recycled my substantial collection of NR magazines soon after Derb was fired. I always liked Derb's writing. We exchanged some good emails, about books, not race.
After the "talk" pieces I wanted to read a debate between Derbyshire and Rich Lowry on the subject of Derb's firing. There was, of course, no debate. Derb would have won. It would have been fun to see Lowry lose. Racial stuff aside, I had no use for a politically correct National Review.
