Unions are weird things. And I would know, as I was an involuntary member of three of them in my long working career.

I spent five years in the United Steelworkers union. The entire leadership was Leftist. But trample on the rights of any individual member, and everyone went insane.

I could be wrong. But I suspect that a police or firefighter union would be even more that way.

Sorry. Permit me to clarify something in my post #15.

The leftist United Steelworkers leadership would routinely try to bully any questioning members. I saw that a lot. But should any *outsider* try to bully a member, that’s when all hell would break loose. All of a sudden it becomes United We Stand.

Perhaps I’m living in the past. But I’m guessing that police and fire unions are the same.

My dad was a member of the Machinists Union in NYC prior to going into the Navy during WW2. He told me that the union was just interested in collecting dues and that was it.
