If You Like The Second Amendment, You Don’t Want John Cornyn Anywhere Near Senate Leadership

If gun control is gaining steam in Congress, chances are Sen. John Cornyn is nearby, working on a ‘compromise’ with Democrats.
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, is the first to announce his campaign to replace Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., as the Senate’s Republican leader. The race for leadership will expose a weakness of Cornyn — his lack of support for Americans’ right to self-defense. “Every time gun control gains steam in Congress, Senator John Cornyn is right there working with Democrats on a ‘compromise,'” says Aidan Johnston with Gun Owners Of America. Unfortunately, Johnston is correct.
Cornyn sponsored the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) and was responsible for negotiating the deal with Senate Democrats. “More than any other senator, Cornyn is responsible for shepherding the landmark legislation through a chamber,” as The Texas Tribune described it. Cornyn was reportedly motivated by the desire to prevent another Uvalde school massacre. However, the final bill turned out to be nothing short of a disaster, and the changes in background checks would do nothing to stop that attack.
Soon after the BSCA passed, Texas Republicans understood what the law’s ramifications meant and vigorously booed Cornyn during his speech at the state party convention.
The bill allowed the Biden administration to push rules that would forbid federal funding for schools that have hunting or archery classes. Fortunately, when that became clear, Congress voted overwhelmingly to undo that part of the BSCA.
But more damaging are the law’s provisions allowing Biden to impose the Democrats’ long-desired wish list on background checks on all private transfers and sales for guns, something that will help them put together a more complete national gun registry of law-abiding Americans.
Although federal law explicitly prohibits the creation of a federal firearm registry...SNIP>>>>>>>

John Cornyn should not be anywhere near the Senate. He needs to be primaried out and replaced with a true conservative like Ken Paxton.

Gun grabber gabbard shouldn’t even be on the radar either.

This is EXACTLY what is wrong with Republicans! Can’t resist the urge to destroy a fellow Republican at every opportunity! Do you think Democrats do this?

Don’t let any John who is a Cornholer like Cornyn any where near the leadership of the Senate.

John Cornyn should not be anywhere near the Senate.
Agreed. Now that I'm a Texas resident, I hope to do something about that at the ballot box.

You know it’s going to be either Trump or Biden right?

We’ve been trying to primary Cornhole for the past 2 election cycles. Certain “conservative” voters guides consistently rank him as high on the conservative scale, though, and people lap it up.

If John Cornyn wants to be re-elected, the very last thing he should want is to be the Senate leader.
But he isn’t “leadership” material to begin with.

I agree.
This is not happening.
Trump is the under even money favorite.
Dems have twice as many Senate seats to defend.
GOP should retain the House.
A Senate majority leader obstructionist will find life unreasonable.

***working on a ‘compromise’ with Democrats. ***
NEVER COMPROMISE ON GUN RIGHTS! Too many years have shown me they will suddenly change the goal posts. Give an inch and the democrats will take a mile or more!
From my personal memories from 1962...
No wonder that in 1941, just days before the Pearl Harbor attack, Congress reaffirmed Second Amendment rights and prohibited gun registration. In 1968, bills to register guns were debated, with opponents recalling the Nazi experience and supporters denying that the Nazis ever used registration records to confiscate guns. The bills were defeated, as every such proposal has been ever since, including recent “universal background check” bills.
The lies we have been told over the years...
1962 We ONLY want to register handguns. Rifles will not be affected!
1964, We ONLY want to register ALL firearms, not ban them.
1968 We ONLY want to register all guns, and ban the import of foreign Saturday Night Specials, and 5-shot bolt action army surplus rifles! (they got the ban).
1970, We ONLY want to ban small American handguns. Rifles will not be affected!
1976 We ONLY want to ban ALL handguns! Rifles will not be affected!
1981, Actress Lee Grant on Good Morning America (ABC) screams...”THE NRA IS A RIFLE ORGANIZATION! THEY SHOULD GIVE UP THEIR HANDGUNS AND THEY CAN KEEP THEIR RIFLES!”
1984, they came for the rifles.
1994..When they thought they had banned “As-s-s-ault rifles they did not shut off the lights and go home. they immediately went after their next target, .50 cal single shot rifles “THAT CAN TAKE DOWN AN AIRPLANE!”
They will never be satisfied till they have an unarmed population.

Australia banned guns.
I haven’t asked an Aussie in a while-
the last time-one told me guns are more accessible and less expensive after the ban.
The war on guns is yrs of endless money burned accomplishing largely nothing because it is so much simpler than addressing why Democrats kill each other.

This is an interesting response to the question of whether South Dakota Senator John Thune intends to seek the position of senate majority leader. Listen to the way he says it and the transparency of the long-discussed plan is crystal clear {GO DEEP, 2022}
WATCH:
We have written about this plan for several years. Mitch McConnell personally groomed Thune for the position and has introduced him to all the key financial players that keep the DeceptiCons (Deceptive Conservatives) in office. [ GO DEEP and GO DEEP]
Thune talks about assuming the role as the natural outcome of his time with McConnell. Unfortunately, almost all the GOPe Republicans will support this passing of the baton. The only thing that makes the Deep State professional Republicans nervous, is the potential for President Donald Trump to intercede in the anointing.
New: Oklahoma GOP Senator Mullin says President Trump needs to stay out of the race for GOP Senate Majority Leader,
“It’s a lose-lose situation. He needs to work with whatever leader is there. It’s really not in his best interest to lean in the race.”
Mullin has endorsed Thune.
Trump endorsed @SenMullin and now he is stabbing him in the back and telling him to shut up..
So many backstabbers in DC..
*****There is the potential for this to be an inflection point if President Trump weighs in on the role of the next Republican Senate Leader.
I would expect Mitch McConnell to try and pull a Machiavellian move with an endorsement of Trump and a promise of non-conflict. McConnell may even make pledges of support for Trump’s nominees in an effort to play the long game for Thune. Of course, as customary, that would all be a ruse, and Thune would await the opportune moment to play the role of DC Brutus.
It’s a complicated political dynamic, because Senator Thune comes to the negotiating table with all the Senate support needed for his installation. The power game is almost equally matched, with only WE THE PEOPLE as the tilting weapon to shift leverage to the side of President Trump.
In the background, the interests that support Thune will be quietly working every angle to block and/or ultimately remove President Trump. Senator Thune knows this game; it’s his home turf. So does Trump, and he has us. So, we keep watching.

John Cornyn should not be anywhere near the Senate. He needs to be primaried out and replaced with a true conservative like Ken Paxton. Actually, Paxton needs to stay right where he is. He is the right man for the job he is in. Colonel Alan West would be a good replacement for Cornyn.
To: momincombatboots
Cornyn is the worst rino the RNC can support. Nobody wants this clown in any leadership position. Need to primary him. Mitch was bad enough.

I have sent Cornyn many, many “retire” and “go away” messages over the last few years. He needs to follow (or lead) Mitch out the door to . . . wherever . . .
