Just before former Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina suspended her presidential campaign Wednesday morning, former President Donald Trump insulted his former rival — as well as her supporters — before inviting them to support him.
"Nikki Haley got TROUNCED last night, in record setting fashion," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. "Much of her money came from Radical Left Democrats, as did many of her voters, almost 50%, according to the polls."
After cheering his Super Tuesday performance, Trump invited Haley's supporters to join him in "the greatest movement in the history of our Nation" to defeat President Joe Biden, whom he called "the enemy."
Trump's Truth Social missive arrived about the same time Haley announced she was suspending her campaign following a relatively poor showing on Super Tuesday.
Haley did not endorse the former president when she dropped out of the race but wished him well and called on him to win over her supporters.
"It is now up the Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond it who did not support him," Haley said in her Wednesday speech in Charleston, South Carolina. "And I hope he does that."
"This is now his time for choosing," she added.
On X, a spokesperson for Haley called out the differences between Trump's and Biden's reactions to the ex-UN ambassador dropping out of the race.
In Biden's statement, he said it "takes a lot of courage to run for President" and applauded Haley for being "willing to speak the truth about Trump."
"Donald Trump made it clear he doesn't want Nikki Haley's supporters," the president said. "I want to be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign."

Not all of them.
I bet there were some right leaning never trumpers in there..
Not many, maybe a biden rally sized amount.
It is time for you to meet the Nikki Haley voters up close and personal—warning barf bag is required for this link:

>>”Trump makes yet another idiotic unforced error”
Nonsense. Trump is the best campaigner in modern American history. He’s crushing Biden across virtually all polls, has expanded the Republican base beyond anything that would have been imagined just a few years ago, and is on course for a historic landslide. He doesn’t need your advice.
>>”The mentally impaired Biden may have just picked up some Haley voters who were on the fence.”
More nonsense. Trump never mentioned Haley voters who are on the fence. He referred to Democrats who voted for Haley for the sole purpose of trying to stop him. Why would genuine Republican fence sitters be put off by this? They wouldn’t.
Haley’s voters are ALL Democrats..in Virginia, in exit polling they were asked if Biden was doing a good job and 83 percent of them said “YES” so there ya go..what person says that Biden is doing a good job unless they are a Democrat..Meanwhile, Biden has his OWN problems with Uncommitted voters who cant stand him so as far as I see it both sides have issues
You really hate Trump don’t you? You’re not helping anyone.
If there is a Haley voter that will likely vote for Biden, I don’t see that vote as obtainable.
However, voters that were torn between Haley and Trump, but decided for Haley, I do see those as viable for Trump, and he didn’t insult those people.
He specifically insulted liberals that hopped on Haley to skew the vote.
Who the frig wants that hag's endorsement? Who the hell is she anyway? She's a nobody, that Democrats voted for, and she proved it last night.
Agreed. The True Believers are suffering from mass formation psychosis.
Yep, dementia joe actually invited her voters to join his campaign.
Why is this on Yahoo Finance? Are they leftists
just like Business Insider?
Sissy. The left insults everyone and they win.
Delaware WAS an open primary. And when the only primary you win is an open one in a liberal state, and you lose by 30+ all over the rest of the board, a lot of your voters are indeed from the other party. That’s not insulting.
I do think he could have been a bit pithier in his speech last night. But he seemed far from insulting.
thanks for the knockdown. She removed herself from the Party. She showed her Uniparty credentials by getting funds from the liberal democrats and was exposed for what she is..Trump had to make that distinction to her to address the fact that the Bush wing is dead....time to regroup and unify. That is the message I heard. She needs to re-establish herself and denounce the beltway elites that so desperately want to maintain their perceived power.
And nothing is stopping joe’s stream of fecal drainage, from his mouth and the other end. So yeah— vote for this stupid loser their and corruptocrat for life.
Worried about insulting Nikita Haley— when all along in her history— she has stabbed him, publicly in the back. His “attack” is a statement of fact about her, personally and professionally. Can’t blame him when she joins and continues to mouth the great mobocracy that are the demonrats and all their donors. Too bad she isn’t a Sikh MALE— then she would have to have the probity and trust that Sikhs swear to (see: British Empire). Grimy grubbing Nikita— that’s who she is- and if her voters don’t realize it the more stupid they.
It appears you made the unforced error in your assessment of what he said.
I mean his statement will not bring any Haley voters who are undecided between him and Biden over to his side.
you really think there are any of those?
“There’s nothing wrong with him pointing out that he trounced her, and the most of her money and large numbers of her votes came from Democrats. Quit being a pussy about it.”
Truth-telling always seems to offend someone.
Nimrata encouraged Democrats to sabotage the basic principle of primaries for their vote against Trump. She knew full well they would not support her in a general election. Was it illegal for her to exploit this weakness in an open primary system? No. Was it morally twisted and wrong? YMMV, but I say Yes.
I did learn one thing from her time in the primaries. I had read things she said, but I had never heard her speak before. Hearing her speak was like hearing someone read off note cards written by someone else, and even Biden does a better job of that sometimes. In a battle of wits between her and Kamala Harris, I would not bet against Harris.
If you're carefully interpreting what he said, that may be true. The problem is many people aren't looking at precisely what he said.
He would have been better off saying something nice about Haley and inviting her to join him. That's how it is always done. Reagan hosted a "unity dinner" to raise funds for the other candidates to pay off their debts, after he secured the nomination in 1980. Reagan knew what he was doing. Trump doesn't.
