British police have failed to solve a solitary burglary in almost half of the neighbourhoods in England and Wales over the past three years, an analysis of policing data has found.
Despite a much-heralded and historic pledge signed by all 43 police constables in England and Wales in 2022 to have officers personally visit the scene of all home burglaries, there has been a decline in the overall solve rate and 48 per cent of all neighbourhoods have seen zero burglaries solved over the previous three years, the Daily Telegraph reports.
According to Home Office data, the charge rate for burglaries fell from 4.6 per cent in 2022 to 3.9 per cent in the year following the pledge, representing less than one in 25 burglaries resulting in charges.

This despite the widespread adoption of home video cameras (Or are those allowed in the UK? Ring doorbells and the like). And cellular tracking technology.
However they have no problem arresting people for appearing to silently pray in a public place, burning a transgender flag in one’s backyard (garden), or printing stickers that the English will become a minority in England.
Things are getting just as bad on this side of the pond. For example, the Pittsburgh police will no longer respond to property crimes unless the perp is still there. If he’s not, they’ll just take information over the phone.
I wonder how many burglaries Pittsburgh will solve this year.
Although better than nothing, I can assure you that security cams are no guarantee a perp even gets identified much less caught.
Anybody that believes that has a false sense of security.
Beats nothing, but I heartily agree.
That said, my former town did a small pile of Flock cameras on all the major roads in and out several years ago. Like 16 or 18 cameras, maybe more now.
There are more felons with outstanding warrants driving around in cars registered to them, than you might expect. And the PD hauled them to the county jail.
Solving crimes would be racist, xenophobic, arabphobic, pakiphobic, gypsyphobic, and especially islamophobic.
Yep- cops just can’t seem to solve crimes when the cr8mes are c9mmitted by preferred ethnic groups. When it comes to white folks or conservatives though, they invent crimes to falsely accuse the white folks for (ie “insurrection”)
The police are useless for property crimes in Britain.
That’s why smart homeowners invest in much more advanced physical security of their homes, instead of alarms.
I copied a lot of these, given the constant flow of illegal immigrants in west Texas Smash proof doors and door frames, most external doors are commercial that open “out” with protected hinges, high security deadbolts that can’t be bumped, windows with lucite layer in the middle that can’t be smashed, window frames that are actually bars, various kinds of bars that don’t look like bars — metal plant trellises in front of windows with climbing roses, safe room, etc. Commercial garage doors that are much lower gauge steel and can’t be easily sprung. Plus wired cameras and alarms, not that they help anymore.
Real, built in, safes for things.
All in a gated community with a guard, who would stop casual theives.
And, of course, appropriate weaponry and training.
Sort of like half of Illinois schools in certain regions not having a single student performing at grade level.
Clearly, the problem is insufficient funding.
Or maybe the disparity between police powers and civilian privileges isn’t wide enough yet.
They’re probably all in No-Go zones.
And then there’s Houston, TX...

Climbing roses are good to put in front of windows, but pyracantha is even better IMO. Tough stems and really nasty thorns. Roses look better, though.
Exactly
Not much if an incentive to perform the business of the people in a timely, accurate, and at the least expense. They opt for late, error filled, over-budget, chaos. A sure bonus and awards to themselves.
Rumpole!
Gee, this sounds so familiar...
The UK is experiencing the very same issues we are...
How can this be...? 🤔
