US Attorney General Merrick Garland delivered remarks on ‘Bloody Sunday’ at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Selma, Alabama.
Garland told the black churchgoers that voter ID requirements are “discriminatory” and that he’s fighting to stop oppressive laws.
“The right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy, the right from which all others flow. It is a right that members of this community bled for,” Garland said to the churchgoers.
Garland insisted the “right to vote is still under attack.”
“And that is why the Justice Department is fighting back,” he said. “That is why, one of the first things I did as Attorney General was to double the number of lawyers in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division. ”
Garland said voter ID requirements and restrictions of ballot ‘drop boxes’ are “discriminatory, burdensome and unnecessary.”
“That is why we are challenging efforts by states and jurisdictions to implement discriminatory, burdensome, and unnecessary restrictions on access to the ballot, including those related to mail-in voting, the use of drop boxes, and voter ID requirements,” Garland said.

Really scary that this *%%***$ was almost on the Supreme Court.
He’s one of the radical activists, and there are many, in Biden’s top leadership that have to be prosecuted and put in prison when they’re done
There is no expectation of privacy in the public area. Little cameras need placed strategically with instant upload ability.
Is requiring an ID to board a commercial airliner “discriminatory?” How ‘bout it, Garland?
Incorrect.
Dangerously so.
This man is not incompetent; this man is a deliberately destructive traitor.
It’s amazing he never gets questions like that.
Stopping voter fraud is discriminatory — Lavrenti Garland

You forgot "lazy".
Where is the left crying about separation of church and state here?
Cue the brylcreme guy.
“The right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy, the right from which all others flow. It is a right that members of this community bled for,” Garland said to the churchgoers.
Early in the Republic, women were disenfranchised, and over half the population was disenfranchhsed. Regarding presidential elections, individual citizens have no right to vote for the electors of the President or Vice President up to the current time. It is entirely up to the State legislature whether a popular vote is held.
Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98, 104 (2000)
The individual citizen has no federal constitutional right to vote for electors for the President of the United States unless and until the state legislature chooses a statewide election as the means to implement its power to appoint members of the Electoral College. U.S. Const., Art. II, §1. This is the source for the statement in McPherson v. Blacker, 146 U.S. 1 , 35 (1892), that the State legislature’s power to select the manner for appointing electors is plenary; it may, if it so chooses, select the electors itself, which indeed was the manner used by State legislatures in several States for many years after the Framing of our Constitution. Id., at 28—33.
The blacks know full well that voter ID is reasonable and fair, and ensures valid voting. That's why they don't want it.
Garland is sending them a message that in spite of Mike Lindell's and Dinesh D'Souza's hard work at exposing vote fraud, the Justice Department is still allowing fraudulent voting and the cheating blacks are still expected to be out full force.
That is what this speech says when decoded.
Voter ID requirements are discriminatory: They discriminate between people who are allowed to vote and those who are not.
Is discrimination not a good thing?
“Discrimination” is one of the words we must reclaim.
If anyone in the audience wanted to visit US Attorney General Merrick Garland at the Justice dept they have to have ID to get in the building.
One paper ballot on Election Day for each verifiable legally registered citizen. If they screw it up somehow and their vote can’t be counted then they should pay closer attention to how it works before they report to their precincts. Oh well, maybe next time...Until then, tough shit!
I was referring to his competency to do his job as AG. I agree, he’s a partisan enemy of the US, and dangerous in the position he holds.
He is incompetent as the US Attorney General.
