Serial rapist Iain Packer has been jailed for life after being found guilty of murdering Emma Caldwell in 2005.
Packer, 51, had been accused of murdering Miss Caldwell, 27, who vanished in Glasgow in 2005 and whose naked body was found in Limefield Woods, near Roberton, South Lanarkshire, the following month.
The former sign fitter was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 36 years for Miss Caldwell's murder following a six-week trial.
He was also convicted of 33 charges, including 11 charges of rape, against 22 women following a three-decade reign of physical and sexual violence between 1990 and 2016.
Police Scotland, who interviewed Packer a month after Miss Caldwell's body was found, have apologised to her family and his other victims for being 'let down' by policing in 2005.

“Sex Worker”? Oh, a hooker.
Yes he preyed on mostly prostitutes.
It does not excuse the serious failings
why is he still alive?
I don’t know the details of this case but a serial killer with no connection to the victim is one of the hardest criminals to catch and convict. It took 25 years to catch the Green River Killer. Others have taken longer and only after advances in forensic DNA methods.
19 years to get verdict?
Cumgineer.
“Prostitute” is the term. Or “whore”, which is also accurate.
It’s just one more version of the efforts to “soften” the english language. George Carlin had a video on this topic:

So in the end, the cops didn't even solve the crime, after having detained and questioned Packer. It took 19 years to get justice. Pathetic.
She did not deserve what happened to her.
UK has intense gun registration and knife registration and “I do not like your Facebook page” registrations.
Too bad they are “too civilized” to have a rapists’ registration.
Similar to replacing letters with asterisks
“hooker”
Aren’t you judgmental? Don’t you know it’s a legitimate business and we have to use the softer, kinder, less judgmental “sex worker”?
You are so far behind the times.
(just kidding)
The Crime was Murder. (many times)
whom
bloody stupid limeys
“It’s just one more version of the efforts to “soften” the english language.”
Or could it be possible the term was used to show respect for the dead woman, who certainly did not deserve what she got?
Jesus told the self-righteous Pharisees that the tax-collectors and prostitutes would enter the Kingdom Of God before they would.
Whoever allowed this animal pervert to live this long after these crimes should be punished as well. I’m all for an accused being afforded legal rights to a defense. But once it is proven that the crimes have been committed without any doubt, punishment should be just and swift.
