After I heard of it for the first time I soon heard many car windows are now too strong to be broken out by most hammer devices. Does anyone know the real story?

Windshields are now laminate & some driver/passenger front side windows. This keeps the glass from breaking into small pieces & can be hard to make a hole big enough to escape from.
