It's not a matter of passing any "purity test." It's about selecting a good VP running mate that will make a good president in four years.
There are many people I would rate ahead of Tim Scott as a VP running mate for President Trump. Among them would be Rand Paul, JD Vance, Kristy Noem, just to name a few.

Historical FACT...Nixon was the last GOP president who got a large ( not like it once was, but big V afterwards ) of black votes AND his name was put forward, for the nomination as the GOP candidate, at the GOP Convention, in 1968, by a BLACK WOMAN FROM CHICAGO!
