Robert Pickton: 'One of Canada’s most notorious serial killers' now eligible for day parole
National Post ^ | 02 22 2024 | Staff

Canadian serial killer Robert Pickton has become eligible for day parole.

The 74-year-old was convicted for the murders of six women in December 2007, receiving a life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.

He was also charged in connection with 20 other murders, with DNA evidence linking additional missing women to his pig farm in Port Coquitlam, B.C., but the charges were stayed because Pickton was already serving the maximum sentence.

He has been linked to possibly murdering up to 49 women and feeding their remains to his pigs.

On Wednesday, families of the victims held a vigil in their memory at the site of the former pig farm.

Michele Pineault, whose daughter Stephanie Lane’s DNA was found on the Pickton farm, told CTV that Pitckton “should not walk on this earth.”

“He doesn’t deserve to take one step out of where he is. He needs to stay where he is until he dies,” she said.

“Today, one of Canada’s most notorious serial killers, Robert Pickton, has become eligible for parole,” Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, posted on X.

“Monsters like this should never be released from prison. Common sense Conservatives believe that mass murderers should face consecutive sentences so they only come out of jail in a box.”

There is no question that Pickton did assist with the cover up of murders of problematic people, way up high. It’s why he was able to operate almost in the open for so long.

I checked his Wiki page and he said he regretted killing 49 women and wanted to kill one more to make it an even fifty.

Sure, give him day parole. What could go wrong?

This is Canada you are talking about. They paroled the Greyhound cannibal a few years after being convicted of his crime.

For some too young to have known this firsthand in 1988 ——
Willie Horton was a convicted prisoner in Massachusetts who, while released on a furlough program signed into law by Dem. Gov. Michael Dukakis, raped a Maryland woman and bound and stabbed her boyfriend. Mr. Bush’s campaign and supporters cited the case as evidence that his Democratic opponent was soft on crime and used the case in TV ads.

TV ad——

Another video tries to attack Bush as a racist but has to mention more weekend passes and more crime. And mentions Mexican illegals in an attempt to defend them.

The bus cannibal was found not guilty by reason of insanity, treated and released without conditions, supposedly cured of his schizophrenia. I am in no position to judge but of course it seems very dubious a full recovery would be possible or that anyone could really guarantee no further incidents.

As it turned out, he had two victims, the bus passenger he killed, and a first responding police officer who had to witness the aftermath of the events, and later committed suicide.

Pickton is very high profile in BC and it would be a huge election issue if he actually got parole. I don’t think it’s going to happen. Paul Bernardo (another notorious Canadian killer) regularly petitions for parole too and is not allowed out. As a general rule serial killers never get parole, it’s an unwritten rule but can anyone think of an exception?

Karla Holmolka was paroled years ago. Tapes found after the trial showed that she was just as involved as Bernardo in the murders, but that was ignored at her parole hearing.

She moved to West Island Montreal Notre Dame de Grace, possibly the most Woke enclave in the Western world - and that's saying something.

More recently, she is living in the South Shore community Chateauguay with her second husband.

Actually, looks like she server her full sentence, which wa sshort because the tapes were not used at the trial.
