The premise of this case is flawed.
It is alleged that Trump inflated the value of his properties, in particular was the 18 acres comprising Mara Lago. Letitia James used the Florida property tax rolls as proof. Trump claimed Mara Lago was worth over $1 billion. The Florida appraisal district said it was worth $18 million.
Who was right?
Trump was.
When he bought Mara Lago, it was a private residence. Residential lots are valued at the highest rate for tax purposes.
When he converted Mara Lago to a club and designated acres as parks and a golf course, the property tax appraisal dropped to one of the lowest valuations for tax purposes (aka common area).
The land did not change; what the land was being used for did.
All he needed to do to shoot the property valuations back to the highest rate was a hearing before the appraisal district to change the land use designation back to residential lots and Mara Lago would be worth $1.8 to $2 billion easily on the property tax rolls.
James knew this. The judge knew this. The banks knew this.
The Judge issued a summary judgment of guilt against Trump without allowing any evidence refuting the underlying claim.
This is BS on a gargantuan level.

This miscarriage of justice should pay Trump big in the lawsuit. If it is proven that it was an attempt to sabotage a political campaign, it should break the bank of the New York government. Letitia James will not know what hit her.
