Actually he’s basically the Vice President of Russia, but I agree with you that he’s being used to convey messages so that there are not any misunderstandings, should election polling force the Neocons to try attacking Russia itself.

Are you claiming that Medvedev is a creation of “leftist media?” He is a longtime Russian political figure: Current Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation (second only to Putin); Former Russian president; former Russian Prime Minister; et als. He is hardly a construct of the “leftist media,” unless they groomed him and put him in power. Is that your claim?
