Former President Donald Trump is allowing the Jan. 6-related cases against him to move forward by not petitioning the Supreme Court, which is already three-deep in Trump appeals.
According to Politico, Trump opted not to ask the justices to overturn the Washington, D.C., Circuit Court of Appeals ruling from December that rejected his claim of presidential immunity from prosecution for conduct while in office.
Therefore, at least three lawsuits brought against him after the breach of the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, can advance to a period of limited evidence-gathering to determine the nature of Trump's activities on that day.

I am sure they have some good evidence to share for all to see.
Evidence applies to both sides thus don’t be upset at what is
shown from either side.
Having these trials in the last 6 months before the election could be a benefit. It keeps the issue fresh in the minds of the voters. Maybe it was all about timing, preventing them from happening too early in the election cycle.
These “discovery will be interesting,” arguments never go anywhere.
Why do these cases even exist? Why haven’t his lawyers washed them?
It seems to me that DJT’s best strategy is to delay the DC case so that there’s no verdict...or perhaps even no testimony...before the election. Rat Party Headquarters is betting everything on a guilty verdict before the election and the resulting headlines...and campaign ads. They know that that they don’t have a prayer without a guilty verdict.
Wrong! It’s true that whatever happens in the DC case won’t change most voters’ minds...either in favor of DJT *or* The Big Guy. But a guilty verdict *will* change the minds of some “independent” voters in tossup states. And remember...2020 was only decided by about 20,000 votes in several states.
It was decided by FRAUDULENT “votes”.
If Johnson releases more tapes the J6 trial could take care of itself.
Yup. DJT HAS NOT opted out of appealing to the Supreme Court, his lawyers just ignored an artificial deadline imposed on them by the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia
Trump had a Thursday deadline to file a petition at the Supreme Court contesting an appeals court decision from December that rejected his immunity arguments, but he did not do so.
The appeals court made it clear that Trump could still claim immunity later in the proceedings in three cases brought by Capitol Police officers and members of Congress.
Oh look, we found the center-moderate-Mconnell-No Spine DU poster.
If a President doesn’t have certain immunities, and can be trìed in courts when the tenure is over, the precedent is set for him, and to hold Presidents accountable for things they do in office. The Bidens for example.
