One must really ask themselves about what in their mindset makes them believe it's a good idea to go anywhere near such a crowd as that.

Police will do two things:
1) Protect the perps from angry relatives and others in the crowd. Crowd people assaulting the perps would be a crime and subject to punishment and lawsuits.

2) Fill out full, complete reports for the records. Now that it’s over.
