Promoted to submarine.

LOL!

Since Moscow seems to like using these for weapons storage, and maybe launching platforms for low-tech Iranian drones, I'd say it was worth the expenditure of ordnance.

If the USAF is the world’s largest distributor of MiG parts, then Ukraine is the world’s largest manufacturer of Russian submarines …

We regularly hear about Ukraine’s guerilla war victories. But we don’t hear about their battlefield victories. Why is that?

Again!!!??? What winning looks like. Russia cannot maintain its Crimea naval base. No Russian navy ships dare to dock there. So what is the point of the vodka swillers occupying Crimea?
Prior to the Putin invasion, this Crimea Russian naval base had a long term lease with Ukraine. But this was not good enough for psycho-killer Putin.

Kharkiv Pact, also known as the Kharkov Accords, was a significant treaty between Ukraine and Russia. Signed on April 21, 2010, this agreement extended the Russian lease on naval facilities in Crimea beyond the original 2017 expiration date, all the way until 2042. As part of this deal, Russia secured an additional five-year renewal option, potentially extending the lease to 2047. In return, Ukraine received a multiyear discounted contract for Russian natural gas1.

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (HUR MO) released footage from an attack with unmanned surface vessels (USVs) on the Project 775 Ropucha-class landing ship Caesar Kunikov (BDK-64) of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The warship was hit a number of times from multiple angles, which caused it to catch fire. The ship was visibly sinking by the end of the video.

********* This is a dramatic two minute video at the Twitter link. This video must come from an observational sea drone. The video is rocking as the waves hit this Ukie sea drone.

Meanwhile, on the actual battlefield, Ukraine is feeding what left of its best troops into the Russian meat grinderm in Avdeevka:

GENERAL SYRSKY TAKES CHARGE AND UKRAINE CONTINUES TO FALTER

The leadership shakeup in Kiev, with President Zelensky giving he boot to General Zaluzhny and promoting General Syrsky to the top military slot, has not changed the dire situation the Ukrainian Army faces on the Donbass front. If anything, it has made matters worse. General Syrsky, who is known derisively among Ukrainian troops as “The Butcher,” seems intent on living up to his reputation as a leader who is careless with the lives of this troops.

###

Biden’s fruitless effort to wrangle an additional $61 billion dollars out of Congress to send to Ukraine will not change Ukraine’s tactical disadvantage. Ukraine lacks the critical resource required to sustain the war — a well-trained cadre of soldiers. Russia’s successful strike on Selidovo is a brutal reminder that anytime Ukraine assembles a large group of soldiers (or trainees) they can be hit and decimated.

Syrsky is reported to be sending more of his best troops towards Avdeevka. If true, he is living up to his reputation as “General Butcher.” Those soldiers are likely to chewed up by the Russian grinding offensive. And the death of every experienced soldier puts Ukraine further into a hole that it cannot climb out of.

Cesar Kunikov was one of the two large landing ships that got away earlier in the war (the other was the Novocherkassk), when their sister ship the Saratov was sunk in the Port of Berdyansk, on 24 March 2022.

They are all gone now.

Oh, then there is this, Marcus:

A powerful strike by Iskander-M missiles on a military training ground in Selidovo, located on the territory of the DPR, led to large-scale destruction and significant losses among the Ukrainian military. Information about this event was disseminated by war correspondent Alexander Kots through his Telegram channel.

According to Kotz, the force of the impact was so great that the affected area was compared to the size of two football fields. The military correspondent emphasized that the chances of survival for those who were at the training ground at the time of the attack were practically zero. A special feature of the warheads used is that they are equipped with 54 fragmentation warheads, capable of firing at a height of about 10 meters above the ground and hitting infantry even in deep trenches due to the vertical direction of the fragments.

According to preliminary data, the death toll at the test site reached approximately one and a half thousand people. Ukrainian sources claim that within a few hours after the attack, trucks with the bodies of the dead were sent from the Selidovo area in the direction of Dnepropetrovsk.

An important aspect of this event is that the Ukrainian military personnel who died in Selidovo were soon to be transferred to the Avdiivka direction to support defensive actions against Russian troops. The strike on the training ground thus caused serious damage to the plans of the Ukrainian command to strengthen its positions at the front. This conflict has shown the world that the nature of combat has drastically changed with the expansion of pseudo-artillery.
