About 80,000 people had already cast ballots through Sunday, when the early voting period ended, a robust turnout for an off-cycle election. About 11,000 more registered Democrats cast ballots than registered Republicans, according to Democratic leaders. Mr. Suozzi’s advantage could well be narrower depending on how many voters are breaking with their party and on the breakdown of independent votes.
“I’d rather be us than them,” Jay Jacobs, the state Democratic Party chairman, said before voting got underway.
Many Republican voters still prefer to vote on Election Day, and their party is accustomed to closing a gap. The party has won nearly every major election on Long Island since 2021, partly on the strength of its turnout operation.

Why ask the obvious?
let me guess mail in ballots
So, how many voting machines in Republican-dominated precincts broke down today?
Voter fraud is your friend.
“How is it possible 11,000 more Dems voted that Repbs?”
Here’s one way: because Democrats in this district outnumber Republicans by 58,000.
This is no “Republican district” regardless of the fluke outcome in 2022. However even though Democrats outnumber Republicans by 11%, the votes are usually much closer; the district is rated at only D+2.
The Republicans are still underdogs in any election in this district, and the one being held today is no exception. It’s certainly winnable, but no way should that be *expected*.
Consider this seat lost. The Democrats have become professional at rigging elections now. While our bitch chairwoman was munching on caviar and drinking champagne etc the DNC were busy rats rigging, planning and strategizing to win every seat from under the nose of THE STUPID HATE THEIR BASE party!!
So sad! As if the vote totals are going be affected by who can or cannot make it to a polling place to cast a ballot. They have a rather quaint and outdated view on the voting process, don’t they?
Zero reasons to kick out Santos.
And Republicans not playing ball will lose.
If you live in NJ, Rep. Tom Kean Jr. voted to expel Santos.
Baked in from the start.
The weather cleared by mid afternoon so I doubt the snow is much of a factor. And the Republican voters who stayed home because of the weather likely already voted this afternoon.
Enhanced Voting...
I am expecting a convincing a Democrat victory in this race, las.
I'm in NY CD3. Yes, the snow stopped here around 1:30. The roads were salted, the sun came out, the temperatures went up above freezing the roads were easily cleared and the sidewalks were shoveled.
The weather was not an excuse to vote here.
The fix is in.
This is something I'll never understand. I get flak sometimes from fellow conservatives here in Florida because I always vote EARLY in the early voting cycle. They claim they prefer the traditional voting on Election Day. I reply that by voting early you have it IN the bag and avoid problems like long lines on Election Day or inclement weather such as in NY.
Yeah, I would prefer that everyone vote on Election Day but since the REALITY is we have early voting then I do that. Oh, and don't forget what happened in Maricopa County of Election Day 2022.
Everybody quit with the negativity! Please! I’m on the verge of giving up on FR because of it. Skepticism... YES. Realism... YES. But I’m 100% done with the defeatism. Every time yall go down that route, you convince more conservatives to stay home during elections ensure an election loss. 🙄 How the hell do you expect to win an election being a bunch of Debbie Downers? I never thought I’d see conservatives Cashing in on the victim mentality movement. It’s beyond pathetic 🙄🙄
In another election today, a low-profile PA state House election in Bucks County, Democrats outvoted Republicans in early voting by a margin of SIX TO ONE.
This one was over before the sun even came up today.
Although nobody (aside from Democrat operatives, possibly) knew those numbers until 8 PM when the polls closed.
