Europe can be our allies without us being in NATO.
NATO was a holdover from WWII if I’m not mistaken. A lot has changed since then. Countries have realigned. Illegal immigration has ruined some countries since then.
This is not a simple issue.
NATO came about to oppose the Soviet Union and Communism from threatening Western Europe in 1949. At that point in history the western European countries were to financially and militarily weak to oppose a determined Soviet invasion.
The only reason Europe didn’t start up fighting again was we, the US, bound half of them in NATO and the USSR the other half in the Warsaw Pact.
That and the nuclear bomb.
It was a brief pause. With the break up of the Warsaw pact the Great Game began again. NATO breaks up and you will see a new war as a lot of old fights boil over.
Good, bad, or indifferent, NATO and the Warsaw Pact did keep a long stalemate by keeping everyone else locked down. That is over.
No it is not. Remember when Russia asked the West to join NATO? Clinton era I believe, they said no. IF they were allowed to join NATO, we would have saved $$$ Trillions , and Peace and Prosperity would have engulfed Europe.
