“While career politician Matt Rosendale cowardly kowtows to his anti-MAGA globalist donors and refuses to support Trump in 2024, Tim Sheehy gave a middle finger to the establishment by publicly endorsing Trump for reelection in 2024,” a source close to Trump told Breitbart News. “Unlike Rosendale, Sheehy is a strong America First conservative and a true political outsider who is already proving that he has the courage to stand up to the swamp in Washington, DC.”

Economy was hot, the Repukes held the Senate and Montana was Trump country, they lost the house because thry had no idea what blot harvesting was and a bunch of them chose not to seek reelection. That’s what i meant by favorable conditions. It was a winnable race and he lost.

I agree with @realDonaldTrump.@SheehyforMT gives us the best chance to defeat far-left nut job, @jontester.

Matt Rosendale proved that he wasn’t a strong candidate in 2018.

And he proved that he wasn’t a smart candidate this year by refusing to endorse @realDonaldTrump

Montana is MAGA country. Tim got that since the beginning!

Matt should stay in the house! — Alex Bruesewitz 🇺🇸 (@alexbruesewitz) February 9, 2024

“Rosendale found himself at the center of controversy when he was reportedly involved in terminating one of Trump's biggest allies, Alex Bruesewitz, from speaking at the MT GOP convention.”

I’m incredibly honored to have the support of America’s favorite President, Donald J. Trump!

Proud to stand with @realDonaldTrump in this fight to take back the White House, take back the Senate, DEFEAT Two-Faced Tester, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/I64Xk9eD2T— Tim Sheehy (@SheehyforMT) February 9, 2024

REMINDER: today I was supposed to speak on behalf of the MAGA movement at the Montana GOP convention but I can’t because the anti-free speech MT “freedom” caucus and their pay-for-play anti-Trump leader Matt Rosendale engaged in left-wing style cancel culture tactics to get me canceled!!!— Alex Bruesewitz 🇺🇸 (@alexbruesewitz) February 9, 2024

I have no idea who’s “fault” it is, but with Trump’s schedule, lawsuits, etc., it would not be unusual for advisors to provide input. I’m not happy about the decision. But, let’s see you handle life better than Trump has before you criticize.

U.S. Senate
2018 election
Main article: 2018 United States Senate election in Montana
In 2017, Rosendale announced he would seek the Republican nomination to challenge two-term incumbent Democratic senator Jon Tester.[90]

In a competitive four-way primary, Rosendale faced district judge Russell Fagg, state senator Al Olszewski, and combat veteran Troy Downing.[10] Rosendale won the Republican primary with 33.8% of the vote to Fagg’s 28.3%, Downing’s 19.1% and Olszewski’s 18.7%.[91]

After the primary, Rosendale was endorsed by President Donald Trump[92] and Vice President Mike Pence.[93] Trump visited the state to campaign for Rosendale four times,[94] while Pence visited three times.[95]

During his 2018 campaign, Rosendale faced criticism for repeatedly presenting himself as a “rancher” in interviews and campaign materials despite owning no cattle or a cattle brand according to public records.[96] Critics labelled Rosendale “all hat, no cattle”. Rosendale, who bought a $2 million ranch near Glendive when he moved to Montana in 2002, said he leased his land and helps run cattle on it.[97] Rosendale later removed the “rancher” label from bios on his website and social media accounts.[98]

Polls showed the race in a statistical tie going into Election Day,[99] in what was the most expensive election in Montana history, with more than $70 million spent between the two sides.[100] Tester’s campaign had a huge cash advantage, raising and spending $21 million to Rosendale’s $6 million.[101]

In the general election, Tester won 50.3% of the vote to Rosendale’s 46.8%, with Libertarian candidate Rick Breckenridge taking 2.9%.[102]

I just don’t think Rosendale is dependable.

For his age, he appears to be a little flighty.

We need consistency and loyalty.

Yep. His base in the GOP will dutifully vote for any candidate he endorses.the problem is that Trump has a tendency to endorse very weak candidates on because they are “outsiders” like he was at one time. Plus, he should not be endorsing anyone in the primaries.Funny, people still think he's not a professional politician despite the fact that that's he has been doing for the past 9 years.

His endorsement of weak candidates in the primaries in PA & GA are the the reason the Dems control the Senate. Had he not endorsed anyone during the primaries, stronger candidates would have prevailed and The GOP would now control the Senate.

This is a fair point. You would hope that President Trump learned about putting his thumb on the scale in the Senate primaries you mention. Oz was a poor candidate, the same for Walker.

We’ll see if he learned. If so, his endorsements could carry even more weight.

I saw that too. I took it that Trump is realizing that he cannot just endorse those who might have the best chance to win, but he MUST endorse those who really support America First and resist the establishment.
