There were a lot of dark things going on in the 1930’s.

Poland almost allied with Germany against the Soviet Union. Poland was going to get enough territory taken from Soviet Ukraine to give Poland access to the Black Sea. I think that alliance didn’t happen because Poland still wouldn’t give Germany Danzig/Gdansk.

A few years before that, Pilsudski (the leader of Poland) wanted to ally with France and attack Germany right after Hitler came to power.

Indeed...here's a photo of Polish President Mościcki conferring with Hermann Goering during a hunting trip in Feb 1938. They seem pretty comfortable together.
