My kids (now 40 and 38) would never have gotten into the “elite” schools that they did without outstanding test scores. We are from a small rural town in fly-over country. Test scores are the best way smart deserving poor kids can get into these schools in front of the Bidens, Kennedys, and other leftest spawn.
