Joe Biden falls to 16 points behind Trump in those who think he's competent as ex-president stands 5% ahead in a general election matchup

Donald Trump is beating out President Joe Biden on several key issues, with just months until the conventions officially kick off the 2024 general election season.

Most notably, Trump has jumped ahead of Biden when it comes to voters' view on the two elderly candidates' competence and effectiveness as leaders. In June 2020, Trump, 77, trailed Biden, 81, by 9 percent in this category, but a new NBC News poll released on Sunday shows the former president now ahead by 16 points – 48 percent to 32 percent.

Competence has become a huge issue in the 2024 race and the two frontrunners are in theirs late 70s and early 80s, leading to questions over their physical and mental fitness for office with an increasing number of gaffes and missteps from the campaign trail.

But on handling of the economy, Trump is also ahead by 22 percentage points – 55 percent to Biden's 33 percent approval. Many surveys and polls show voters are concerned with whether either men are fit to run the country.

The largest gap, however, is in the handling of immigration and securing the southern border where 57 percent of voters say they approve of Trump's handling compared to the just 22 percent who say Biden has done well in that area.

This comes as Congress works to unveil a border security bill, which is likely to be released on Sunday.

The NBC News survey taken among 1,000 voters from January 26-30 has Biden at an all time low approval in this particular polling's history. The president stands at 60 present disapproval and just 37 percent approval.

It also shows Trump 5 percentage points ahead of Biden in a hypothetical general election matchup.

the conventions and all the ads in the wont change anything in this election.

This election is unlike ANY in our lifetime because it has TWO incumbents. Voters need only ask themselves who they preferred.

With the border in chaos
Kill the Jews KKK Democrats running amock
and inflation making it painful to grocery shop

What's been done about cheat-by-mail-in ballots?

You know the answer.

Polls don't matter one bit.

Polls give a hint on how much cheating is needed. If the polls had said Hillary was behind she would have won by spending campaign money on get out the ballots efforts instead of holographic glass ceilings for the victory party.

So roughly 10% think that Biden is less competent and effective, but would vote for him anyway? Hate is a powerful emotion.

Truly memorable was when an ill-tempered Hillary asked:"Why am
I not 50 points ahead of Trump?" A glorious glimpse of things to come.

I think the Daily Mail is running an internal competition for the most tortured headline. This one may be an early winner for 2024.

We'll have to be the fly on the wall in the same room with George Soros.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in Michigan. It's up to Soros to decide whether he wants to go all in with the cheating. Or maybe he'll tell the party bosses in Detroit to tone it down this time.

If that's the case, Joe Biden is the sacrificial lamb, which will pave the way for Gavin Newsom in January 2029 with millions of new Democratic voters who will be legal due to amnesty. Then they will not have to cheat anymore.

Last time would be Taft vs Teddy rematch in 1912? Wilson took advantage of the split in the Republican Party to win.

We paid dearly for that. America entered WWI.

Taft would have been the preferred President during WWI. I think he is likely to be reluctant to commit American troops during the Great War. Roosevelt is likely to be gung-ho just like Wilson.

I don’t understand why Democrats always start yelling when giving a speech.
