Dr. Wyner is a professor, statistician, and, oh, chair of the undergraduate program in statistics and data science. His specialty is probability models. He has worked with ESPN (Money Ball anyone?) and has received grants from the National Science Foundation, the very same NSF of which we've heard so much about the two last weeks.
Dr. Wyner knows numbers.

The jury is our peers. If they fail society, they fail themselves worse, ss they are DC and deserve the squalor.

If there’s one thing DC/NY juries have shown over and over again it is that they sure as hell are not our peers.
What delighted me so very much was the testimony about how highly esteemed is the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania, the business school at UPenn that may not yet have been completely ruined by Joe Biden and UPenn's recent lady president who stepped down after her insensitive handling of anti-semitism on campus and in Congress.
Wyner is a math genius statistician and apparently an excellent teacher who compares difficult statistical concepts to things many people know about, like football.
My hope is that if this DC jury is at all impressed with his tremendous love of statistical accurancy and his clear explanations of how misleading the "hockey stick" theory actually is, they may be able to ignore any lingering animus about Wharton due to Donald Trump, Don Jr and Ivanka all being Wharton graduates—if they even know that—Dr. Wyner's testimony about Wharton's reputation included nothing whatsoever about Trump or anything that would reveal any of his own opinion about politics. Nevertheless, I do wonder how it is going to sit with the jury.
