Ford made reliable cars until around 2005 or so. Then their reliability collapsed. I was reading about this the other day. A car guy said it’s all due to the bean counters taking over from the engineers. Profits are now put ahead of quality.
So getting software from China, just to save a buck? No surprise there.
A year or so ago, a gentleman doing some work for me told me that his brand new Ford truck caught fire a few weeks previous, and burned mostly to a crisp. He had just driven and parked (and gotten out), and whoosh.
Nobody hurt, truck a total loss.
He is not a person of wealth, he was unable to recover costs completely and I did, and do, feel sorry for him.
The story about Ford and Chinese military software supplier only makes it less likely (from completely unwilling) to ever buy another Ford.
