He’s also going to have to post a bond in cash or other assets equal to the verdict amount in order to appeal. He’s already done that in the original case. If his appeals fail, the money is there for the taking.
This makes me wonder whether the lawyers are working on a settlement. The $$ penalty is a shock to me, but an eventual total vindication doesn't seem likely, either.
