Texas is unique in that they have there own grid. The only State that does. I was reading that when they had that deep freeze two years ago that the entire grid almost went down because they aren’t interconnected to outside (other States) sources of electricity. If they can’t bring it in, I don’t know how they can send electricity out?

The grid went down because of the darn wind turbines that the libs here said we should use. I believe that issue has been handled.
There are at least DC ties to other grids. It is a rather innefficient interconnect though.
Situation was brought about to avoid FERC regulation. There are still service areas in Texas not officially under FERC regulation as the AC to DC and back to AC change keeps tham out of interstate commerce.
