That’s the problem with California: it’s in a death spiral.
Leftists attack working people’s freedom and livelihood. Those normal Americans leave California. The percentage of communists, drug addicts, gangbangers, illegal aliens, sexual deviants, and welfare parasites who vote Democrat increases.
The governor and state legislature lurch further left and pass even more ridiculous laws. More normal, productive citizens leave. The aforementioned human debris becomes an even higher percentage of California’s population.
California will eventually go full metal Marxist if this trend continues. That spells real trouble for the rest of the country. Will California secede from the Union if Trump wins, for example? Trump couldn’t allow that because California would then be a beachhead for communist Chinese troops.
Will California resort to collectivizing agriculture, herding the (few remaining) Christians into death camps, and other Khmer Rouge/Stalinist behavior? Would a President such as Trump tolerate that? Civil war might be the only way to stop Sacramento’s Politburo from hosting Chinese military bases and enslaving, terrorizing, and murdering innocent Americans.
I’ve long been telling the people I know they should get used to doing without California produce. The drought a few years ago was only a prelude of what to expect. Like all communist countries, an all out Leninist California will wreck its own agriculture and become a net food importer.
This is a great opportunity for farmers in other states to invest in orchards and to return to truck farming. Before World War II, the areas near big cities like New York that would later become suburbs had farms that produced much of the fruit and vegetable supplies for those cities. California agriculture thrived because of the rise of refrigerated trucks and the construction of the Interstate Highway System, enabling California farmers to take advantage of their favorable climate and soils. If California goes full Marxist, there is a great opening for farmers in the other 47 contiguous states.
