Has the TSA ever apprehended a single would-be terrorist?! Meanwhile they treat all us passengers as criminals.

More than twenty years later, it's clear to everyone who flies that what we have is not safety, but safety theater -- the illusion of safety...

Yes, kabuki theater security.

....the illusion of safety, conducted by uniformed government employees of last resort whose mission as it has evolved is not to provide the phantasm of "security" but to obstruct, hamper, harass, and hinder Americans as they attempt to go about their lives.

Just like everything else the government does these days!

I refuse to fly as long as the TSA exists. I’ll drive or I won’t go.

At least stop the taking off of shoes, forcing tiny bottles , allow water through security, etc.

Seems to be a conspiracy to get rid of the cold bottled water and once pass security making you buy lukewarm bottles from Hudson News for $6.

The TSA should never have been allowed to deal with anything other than luggage.

Whatever happened to the 9/11 Commission Report? It has gone into the dust bin of history. Recommendations were made and never followed, example of their findings:

The commission’s final report, known as the 9/11 Commission Report, was published on July 22, 2004.[1] It is a lengthy 585 pages, including the findings of the commission’s extensive interviews and testimony that was received during its investigation. The primary conclusion in the 9/11 Report is that failures of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) permitted the September 11 terrorist attacks to occur and that wiser and more aggressive actions by these agencies could potentially have prevented the attack. Created with the founding principle of protecting the American people from terrorist and other threats, DHS and its many partners across the federal government, public and private sectors, and communities throughout the country have strengthened the homeland security enterprise to better mitigate and defend against dynamic threats.

As self-checkout becomes the norm across America, you are going to see the helpful checkout people morph into the TSA.

Apparently, not enough people fly.

Yes, kabuki theater security.

I’m here to defend Kabuki theater! I got a chance to sit through an entire play and it was entertaining, fun to watch, and the quick-change artistry was amazing. Plus we enjoyed a bento during half-time.

Nothing at all like the TSA show.

The TSA is abiding proof that Osama Bin Laden defeated the United States.

All we had to do was follow Israel’s lead and focus our security efforts on young Muhammadan Arab men and we’d reduce the risk to an acceptable level. Instead we’re still going through 2-hour security checks before boarding commuter flights and frisking octogenarian great-grandmas in wheelchairs. OBL disrupted our lives, apparently forever.

Yep. And I still remember that idiot Norman Mineta (whom President Bush would not fire) comparing profiling to the WWII internment camps.

Stupid headline.

Abolishing the TSA might improve the quality of air travel. A bit.

But it certainly won't "save America."

Last time my wife and I took a flight, I got held up due to a flashlight in my carry on bag. The TSA goon clicked in on and off, took out the batteries and swabbed for something. Held me up for about 20 minutes. Meanwhile my wife had 2 pocket knives in her purse. They totally missed that. While on the plane, I found a butane lighter on the floor that some other TSA goon missed. TSA is a joke.

I feel the same way. I refer to TSA as Thousands Standing Around. It’s become nothing more than a government jobs program.
