Father-in-law. Really don’t know much about his army career. That was the main story I heard.
My father was regular army in the Signal Corps. The WW II stories I heard were more about NYC being blacked out and my parents driving to Governor’s Island for my birth using the little cutouts in the tape over the street lights to see when to go or stop. And mother took me to Manasquan NJ where he was stationed and said brother would play in the ocean and she’d wash him down with gasoline because he’d be covered with oil from the tankers sunk off the coast. She said at night you could see the tankers burning.
