Wind & Solar Generators Couldn’t Care Less When You’re Freezing In The Dark

Solar panels smothered with snow and ice produce nothing; wind turbines frozen solid during breathless, frigid weather produce even less.

As The Great Cold returns in the few thousand years, I wonder how many Canadians will become Floridians.

This Canadian Ruling Class talks about 'investing' in wind and solar. Investing other people's money (stealing taxpayer $$$) for boondoggles.

FTA - “they [windmills] actually consume power from the grid to run heating systems meant to prevent their internal workings suffering permanent damage“ And how do they heat the windmill internal parts? Oh….those evil hydrocarbons.

The article mentions all of the hydrocarbons Canada has to use when it is cold. So, after stealing $$$, and no doubt taking their own 10%, the government-sponsored solar and wind produces nothing, and consumes energy to keep warm. While not mentioned in this article, it is also true that if there is too much wind, they do not use the giant windmills. It might damage them.

We have only drilled a few miles into the Earth. We have thousands of years of hydrocarbons under our feet. France generates 60-70% of its electricity from nuclear power plants. In 2022 France announced that they will build another 15 nuclear power plants.

President Trump let the drillers Drill Baby Drill, and energy prices plummeted. Inexpensive, abundant energy equals more freedom, and more freedom is anathema to the democRATS

The true lesson of all this:

The Globohomo Regime Couldn’t Care Less When You’re Freezing In The Dark

One thing the article does not cover is that wind speed is negatively correlated with extreme temperatures.

So in extreme cold, wind power drops off just when you need it most.

It is also true in extreme heat. For those climates, in extreme heat the wind power also drops to approx zero just when you need it most for emergency cooling.

Wind power is uniquely negatively correlated with required power output, the more you need it, the less there is.

At least solar has greater output when temperatures go up.

more effort needs to be put into stopping the climate scam, before it’s too late...financially:

(behind paywall) 20 Jan: UK Telegraph: Climate chiefs admitted net zero plan based on insufficient data, leading physicist says
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/01/20/climate-change-wind-farms-royal-society-green-energy/

Excerpts:
Key committee only looked at ‘a single year of data’ when making controversial green energy claims.

Britain’s climate watchdog has privately admitted that a number of its key net zero recommendations may have relied on insufficient data, it has been claimed...

Sir Chris Llewellyn Smith says the Climate Change Committee admits that a mistake was made

Britain’s climate watchdog has privately admitted that a number of its key net zero recommendations may have relied on insufficient data, it has been claimed.
Sir Chris Llewellyn Smith, who led a recent Royal Society study on future energy supply, said that the Climate Change Committee only “looked at a single year” of data showing the number of windy days in a year when it made pronouncements on the extent to which the UK could rely on wind and solar farms to meet net zero.

“They have conceded privately that that was a mistake,” Sir Chris said in a presentation seen by this newspaper. In contrast, the Royal Society review examined 37 years worth of weather data.

That's really not fare. We can use coal to keep these systems warm, dry and operational all year long.

Wow...

4,500 MW of installed wind capacity nameplate rating January 2024.

8 MW wind output evening of January 12, 2024.

0.2% of nameplate.

How did these azzholes get the power to do capacity power planning like that? So many people have fallen for the climate scam and let them get away with it. They need a few weeks without ANY power and everybody in all of Alberta crammed into emergency shelters that can keep the temperature maybe at 40F indoors. Until there is wholesale collapse of this green lunacy, people just won't resist the climate scam.

Some personal perspective: My mom's great grandmother and family spent nine years living on the Saskatchewan prairie east of Alberta back in the 1860s. They lived in a sod house with a sod roof, probably burning cow chips for heat. Imagine that in a January like this one. Brrrrr.

Solar power goes up when it’s sunny vs cloudy, but when temps go up panel efficiency suffers.

The Weather Channel has done a continuous loop of EV owners having difficulty with the charging in severe cold weather. Surprised me the narrative was so negative towards EVs.

Ok so even solar has some counter-demand output behavior.

The one heat transfer course I covered, didn’t have that.

Do you remember at one time Whole Foods promised to power all their stores with windmills?

That made me laugh because in the South much of the summer you can see the humidity in the air and there is virtually no wind except at the beach or in the mountains.

Solar can be good for small-scale applications, there was some travel trailer that came with solar cells on top. That’s a pretty good idea.

ALSO we can take a certain percentage and pay the debt OFF (oil revenues)while mandating a fixed budget in line with revenue via current taxation. The debt doesn’t scare me , the exspansion of government hires do...Bring back all forms of manufacturing in line with National Security and have every type of job along with the domino affect that employment generates. DRILL til it hurts every other marxist/communist nation.

If the wind is too high, they lock the blades so they don’t rotate.

It doesn’t matter what they do in the high wind or ice. THEY DON’T WORK, and it is a scam. The POLITICIANs get a kickback on every one erected, ordered and delivered. It is a slush fund. Even if effective at delivering power at inexpensive reliable rates, let it rise or fall ONLY on if it can beat the competition of Coal, NG, Hydrogen, Gasoline, Diesel, Hydro, Solar et al. Measuring by the false scale of “is it saving the Planet” is using the language of our masters. BREAK OFF YOUR CHAINS, and do something besides blather on. We have been in the know of it being a scam for 20+ years, and the beat goes on.
