Liberals turn everything to s___.
Kathy Ireland.
“Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be...”
William Wordsworth
I have taken a shine to the most recent version of “All Creatures Great And Small”, and there doesn’t seem to be that overt indoctrination by inserting those kinds of sub-plots just to throw a bone to...someone.
Probably because they can’t stray too far from Herriott’s book. If they could, they absolutely would.
When will they ever learn? Go woke, go broke.
It was. A long time ago. But those days are long gone. Read Dan Jenkins for how it was back in the 70s and 80s at SI.
It's not a matter of poor learning, it's a matter of intentional sacrifice. The horned gods require it.
In the old days it was children and cattle, because they were most valuable. Now it's entire corporations.
Or very large. Females in bikini’s
Fortunately, we don’t rent much anymore, and when I do, I usually know what I’m getting.
Now, we belong to a large library network of 70+ libraries, and we order them through the library online, and they deliver the movie to the library closest to us where we can pick up return it.
So why do they do the stupid stuff then? Shorting their stock on the sly? It’s also a “win” no matter what happens, another scalp for the leftists. Sullying the brand Budweiser, an iconic firm in advertising.
Desperation. Trying to find an audience. Trying to find a way to adapt to the modern world. Was Budweiser really iconic. I mean OK they tended to come up with memorable (though often quite annoying) ad campaigns. And half the country made fun of how awful their beer is. I don’t see a scalp at all, life isn’t that interesting. Bud was another example of desperation. They’ve been losing market share steadily for over a decade. Yeah they were still #1 but the margin was getting thinner and thinner.
Do you know that one of the things they teach Coast Guard swimmers, and lifeguards is a punch that will just about knock someone out? And do you why they do that? Because drowning people freak out and do dumb stuff. Like grab the person trying to rescue them around the arms making it so they can’t swim. So if a person is thrashing around the rescuer is taught to pop them this punch, stunning them, making them much more compliant. Once you think about that and really understand it all these corporate missteps make a lot more sense.
That would have been an excellent time to make the business decision that says "No thanks, we'll stay where our market is..."
SI was one of the last weekly print magazines circling the toilet bowl. The editorial decisions to go full woke just pushed the flush handle for the final descent down the drain. They did not seem to have a strong digital transition plan in place to keep them commercially viable. This is like the captain of a ship choosing to deliberately sail into a giant whirlpool. Even the name “Sports Illustrated” is hopelessly linked to the antiquated art of still photography. This was an enterprise that desperately needed rebranding and reformatting and management ignored pursuing the required metamorphosis.
