A student of mine had a grandfather who had been a prosperous landowner in China. He was a decent man, fair and kind to his tenants, and a pillar of the community.

However, during the Cultural revolution, he was publicly humiliated, forced to walk through the town with a dunce cap and a sign around his neck stating his "crimes".

The people who had been his friends and neighbors screamed at him and threw dung at him as he was paraded past them.

I have seen people I have loved for YEARS turn into monsters when it comes to President Trump. It's definitely a Spiritual transformation that takes place. And it's frighteningly evil.
