Several years ago I got hooked on pro rugby from the UK that was regularly shown on satellite. Alas, it now requires a subscription.
Imagine football played in soccer uniforms with 15 per side with very limited stoppages in play. Players play both defense and offense since the ball can change hands in the blink of an eye.
Only one ref on the field, two on the sidelines and one ‘up in the booth’. If there’s a questionable play the ref asks to see it replayed on the big screen. Both teams and all the fans can watch the replay and since the ref is miked up, they can hear the conversation.
And in international games the players sing their national anthem enthusiastically.
I love watching The All-Blacks do "The Haka".
When I was an instructor at UNC I’d attended some rugby club games for the “respectable” day drinking.
