Russia Might Be Running Out Of Tanks
Forbes ^ | Jan 10, 2024, 03:00pm EST | David Axe

Russia could run out of infantry fighting vehicles in two or three years, if a recent assessment is accurate. It might run out of tanks around the same time.

According to one count, the Russian armed forces went to war in Ukraine in February 2022 with 2,987 tanks. After 23 months of hard fighting, the Russians have lost at least 2,619 tanks that independent analysts can confirm.

That’s 1,725 destroyed, 145 damaged, 205 abandoned and 544 captured T-55s, T-62s, T-72s, T-80s and T-90s.

If the Kremlin didn’t have options for replacing war losses, the Russian military would be down to just 368 tanks: far too few to defend against Ukraine’s own armor corps, which between pre-war tanks, restored tanks and donated tanks—minus losses—might number around a thousand vehicles.

But the Kremlin does have sources of replacement tanks: the Uralvagonzavod factory in southern Russia, which manufactures new T-90Ms, plus four other facilities that repair and modernize old tanks that have been moldering in storage. Some for decades.

The big question—one that no outside analyst definitively has answered—is how many tanks Uralvagonzavod can build, and how tanks the other plants can repair.

The Kremlin claims it received 1,500 new and modernized tanks following an intensive industrial effort that roughly tripled vehicle-generation in 2023. If that’s true—a big if—it would be reasonable to assume the Russian armed forces received around 500 new and modernized tanks in 2022.

Three thousand pre-war tanks minus 2,600 wartime losses plus 2,000 replacement tanks equals 2,400 tanks. As the Russian military added new formations in the 23 months since widening the war, so each field army, division, brigade and regiment would have fewer tanks than it would have had before 2022.

">Over 65 and chasing 18 year olds.... Ah, how Epstein-esque.< Try 14 year olds. This came from his own mouth. A sicko. "

Whoa! That is evil.

Why is this child predator "Baba" being allowed to post here, on a Christian conservative forum?

What the hell is going with FR these days? Christ!

Russia is now adding another layer of "armor" to their tanks. It tends to slow down the incoming drone warheads a little, but it leaves a lot of crying widows.

What a complaint to come from a guy who seems to like Scott Ritter.

they will spend the rest of their lives paying for it as well.

How is that? US spending in Ukraine is an insignificant part of total US government spending. In many cases giving old US munitions to Ukraine saves all of us from the spending needed to decommission them.

If Ukraine prevails the US can cut its spending on defense in Europe dramatically. That will save money for generations of US citizens.

I've never said a word about Scott Ritter. Never. Why are you trying to gaslight me?

It's really messed you're defending the creep. Would you still be defending him if it was your son or daughter being preyed on by him?

You are optimistic FRiend.

We have not cut spending on defending Europe since the peace dividend at the end of the Cold War.

Our MIC owns the Pentagon and congress. Good luck getting them to cut spending and weapon systems continue to grow more complex and expensive every single year.

We will make 60 million dollar drones when we would probably be better off with 6000 FPV kamikaze drones for the same price.

We have given the Ukraine some old systems, but we have also given them many that are still fielded and take significant time to replace such as HIMARS and our supply of 155mm rounds. These have a significant lead time and it will take a long time to replace them. They are not cheap either and the “accounting” we are being given for what we spend in Ukraine is suspect.

You live in La-La Land. Do you think Raytheon, Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Blackrock and Grumman are going to take a cut in profits? NEVER! They thrive on Forever Wars.

Watch RFK Jr. talk about this. It’s less than 3.5 minutes long.

Is that like ignoring people?

In a way, it is. I didn’t want to ignore them just their comment. The gray rock is a reminder to be kind.

Actually, the idea that is abusive people, especially those with NPD, enjoy getting reactions from their victims. THEREFORE, by Grey rocking just skimming over their “foolishness” of their comments will refuse to reward their behavior.

Examples of such emotional abuse from these individuals include a range of deliberate tactics to harm or exploit another person to benefit themselves.

What a load of psychobabble coming from someone who’s supposed to be a Christian cleric.

You should get your guidance from The Word Of God, not Sigmund Freud.

Mommy, are you a clinical psychiatrist as well as a REVEREND, or just pretending to be one on FR?

Bimbo has accurately stated use of the “grey rock method”
Main strategy of the grey rock method is to deal with abusive trolls that:
• intentionally humiliate someone in front of others
• call them names
• deliberately make a person feel worthless or unsafe
• attempt to control another person’s behavior
• attempt to isolate them in forum

My gosh, you are so out of it!

Who, other than the members of your little coven, look at a photo of a rock and equate it with kindness?

And yes, I accurately stated the use of the “grey rock method” because I copied and pasted the info from one of YOUR posts.

Stop with the Communion wine already.

“looks like my comment wasn’t ignored.”

True, ROTFL
Trying to answer your inquiring mind. :)

Bimbo is also true:
“I accurately stated the use of the “grey rock method” because I copied and pasted the info from one of YOUR posts.”

Incidentally, you may find this interesting: only 26 comments actually referenced “Russia.” The rest of the comments were from the “distractors & detractors.”
