And we still see examples of that - such as, just the other day, Francis Collins, former Director of the US National Institutes of Health (and acclaimed Judy Garland impersonator):

Oh. So the "public health mindset" was a "mistake". Good to know - although one can't help noticing that this is somewhat at odds with his Judy Garland routine, where he assured us that we'd all "thank the people in science that brought the pandemic's end":

Collins's mea-sorta-culpa on behalf of "the public health people" is not really sufficient - because the things he's singing about (masks, nose-swabs, no hugging) were never necessary and impeded the spread of natural immunity; and the damage from his more dramatic interventions continues to this day. That said, it's no longer a controlled walkbackening, but an entire unravelling of the narrative. Back in the real world, Florida's Surgeon-General has cut to the chase:

Good for Mr Ladapo - although it would have been better for the three-quarters of the global population that's been jabbed with this stuff had they been halted a couple of years ago, as Angus Dalgliesh pointed out to Nigel-come-lately Farage. There was a period, you may recall, when GB News was covering this stuff in real time, until Commissars Grade and Dawes swooped in to restore the groupthink propaganda.

Wow, even Mark Steyn has fallen for the misinformation.

The scientific evidence shows that masks and social distancing decrease the chance of catching not just Covid, but any infectious disease spread by aerosols. When we were in full mask/social distancing mode, the number of influenza deaths dropped. I'm including three scientific references on the efficacy face masks below; there are many many more.

Now, for the nonsense of "natural" immunity, which is used by antivax misinformationists to mean immunity from catching the disease. This makes utterly no sense. In order to avoid catching disease that is so bad that it has already disabled tens of millions and killed millions, you are going to catch the disease? It doesn't occur to anyone repeating this trope that catching it in order to get immunity against catching it again is purposely risking disability, heart and lung damage, and death? Why risk all of that when you can get a vaccine to safely acquire immunity?

There is plenty of evidence that disease-induced immunity is not as protective as vaccine-induced immunity.

First, only antibodies against the spike protein can provide protective immunity. This is because antibodies against the spike attach to the spike which covers the virus and blocks the virus from using the spike to get inside cells.

Second, there are 29 proteins in the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Immunity against any protein that isn't the spike is not protective.

Third, immune cells display chopped up viral proteins on their surfaces for analysis. Antibodies are then made which attach to the chopped up proteins. This means that even if the immune system makes anti-spike antibodies during infection, the spike it analyzed was not the same as the spike on the surface of the virus (because it was chopped up). The vaccines are designed to make a spike that has a shape very similar to the spike covering the virus. This makes vaccine-induced antibodies work better than disease-induced anti-spike bits antibodies.

Immunity against coronaviruses in general lasts only a few months. No vaccine can change this, because this is how the immune system operates. Vaccines cannot alter immune system function, since all they are is a fake pathogen that the immune system thinks is real.

I will also point out that many many studies have shown the efficacy of Covid vaccines. The decreased death rates from Covid also provide real-world evidence of their efficacy. Less than 80,000 people in the US died of Covid in 2023, when 81% of the population had received at least one dose and 70% of the population was considered fully vaccinated. (Of course, those who get boosters have better protection.)

If you still think that catching a disease in order to prevent it is a good idea, then what do you think of catching rabies in order to prevent further cases? (Oh, I can guarantee that if you catch rabies, you'll never catch it again.) How about intentionally catching Ebola so that you will be protected in the future? Or Hantavirus? Or any of the other deadly diseases that no rational person would want to risk catching?

Sorry, exDemMom, but you are wildly misinformed. Fauci himself did research that revealed masks to be ineffective. Not only that, but probably responsible for a majority of deaths during the Spanish Flu.

Covid was a bioweapon. There’s more than enough information on that out now. And all that nonsense about masks was just to see how well we’d be controlled.
