We have been observing this in the U.S. for many years long before Covid and “supply chain” issues.
Some “half gallon” juice containers are now only 54 ounces.
Tuna in the same cans used to be 7 ounces and is now only 5.
I could go thrugh many examples.

Europeans will be a teensy bit healthier without Cheetos and Doritos. The British use the term “skimpflation.” That’s when food manufacturers substitute cheaper, less desirable ingredients (think GMO insect flour) to cut costs. This is in addition to “shrinkflation.”

I remember many, many years ago when the large Tootsie Rolls were five cents. The price remained the same for years, and the packaging remained the same size, but the Tootsie Rolls kept getting progressively smaller and smaller. Eventually they were only about half the length of the packaging.

Predicted. The left will blame corporations instead of Biden for inflation

Companies get blamed.
Stalin took over the companies and shot the managers.

I have recipes that call for, say a can of tomatoes. I have to keep remembering the can sizes have changed and have to adapt the recipe.

I've been noticing that all of the Glad ziploc brand bags now have fewer contents.
I just replaced an 80-count "megapack" box with a 75-count "megapack" box.

The corporate monsters have abused Capitalism so much that Communism will take over easily. How about a reasonably regulated Free Market with small family businesses and farms and manufacturers? “Small is Beautiful” is a thoughtful old book. Give it a read.

I hadn’t bought Tootsie rolls since I was a kid but one day years ago I thought about getting the large size just for nostalgia.
When I grabbed the bar I immediately felt it wasn’t vas full or long as they used to be.
I put it back on the shelf and kept my find memories of childhood.

I see mini canned Coke and Pepsi products that are more expensive than the larger cans. Potato chips are OUTRAGEOUSLY priced - almost $5 for a bag that is about a third full !!!!!
