I too was in 11th grade in 1975 and experienced the exact same thing in my English class. My teacher, Mrs. Anderson, made dang sure her students understood the folly of plagiarism.
But yet when the left digs up a decade old video or recording of a Conservative saying something not politically correct in today’s world, apparently that is perfectly fine.

Rival writer and talk host Howie Carr excitely kept repeating “Barnicle resigns!” in his radio studio
