coastguard plane with 367 people on board Japan Coast Guard plane involved in the collision with Japan Airlines airplane had 6 on board, 1 ejected and 5 are unaccounted for

Early speculation. CG was to hold short of the runway. For whatever reason, that didn’t happen.....

I looked at the airport diagram. It’s a complicated airport, and it was at night. My son tells me, before he taxies his aircraft, a computer screen shows him exactly where he is in the parking ramp, and exactly how to get to the take off runway. Also, now most places have ASDE, which shows the controller the same thing.

Former ATC here- video showed the number 2 still turning during the evacuation. Fire seemed to have generated from there.

I was at Midway in Chicago waiting on a flight home. Our plane came in , passengers demanded and then it caught fire. They pushed it away from the terminal and put it out.

They said it was a small fire and the plane was fine. Needless to say many if us waited for another flight. A few in a hurry got a refund voucher and rented a car and drove to Nashville.
