Among many he hastily imported into his administration.

‘Somebody’ was responsible; no one has yet been held accountable.

“Among many he hastily imported into his administration.”

Not really hastily. Look at Alyssa Griffen’s track record. Before 2014 she was a writer for her father Joseph Farah’s right wing website World Net Daily.

Alyssa Griffin served as press secretary for Congressman Mark Meadows (2014). She then became Communications Director for the House Freedom Caucus serving under Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows. From there in 2017 she was appointed Press Secretary to Vice President Mike Pence. In 2019 she moved to the job of Press Secretary for the Department of Defense. She joined the White House staff as White House Director of Strategic Communications in April 2020. It was reported by the Washington Post she played a key role in shaping the adminisration’s coronavirus response. In 2021 she joined CNN. In 2022 she was named a permanent co host for the television show The View.

Alyssa Griffen was not “hastily imported” into Trump’s administration. Her career was mentored by key players in the “conservative” political spectrum. She is part of the conservative Republican world.

How do you vet someone like Alyssa Griffin? Mark Meadows certainly recommended her for the job with Mike Pence. Likely he played a role in moving her to the Pentagon and then brought her into the White House when he was White House Chief of Staff. Remember Meadows was appointed by Trump to be White House Chief of Staff, a job that did not require Senate confirmation so McConnell had no veto over the appointment.

This shows the problem any conservative leader has in finding true conservative talent. Many people in the political world have no loyalty to an ideology or they are wolves in sheep’s clothing. They are in the political world to advance their careers and do what is necessary in the moment to acquire wealth and power. If pretending to be MAGA gets them a step up on the ladder, they will do it. If being a turncoat brings them another prime assignment, they will do it.

Trump will have the same problem with “talent” in a second administration he faced in his first.
