Phoenix prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for a man accused of fatally stabbing a 29-year-old woman on an Arizona hiking trail.
Maricopa County Attorney’s Office filed the notice of intent Friday around 5pm - a move the family of late Lauren Heike said they 'support' seven months after the brutal killing.
Zion Teasley, 22, is accused of stabbing the esthetician 15 times in the back and chest after stalking her on the Reach 11 trail in broad daylight in April.

I found the location of this crime shocking, too. Would perhaps have been less likely in Joe Arpaio’s Maricopa County - but in this new one where the Sheriff works for the cartels all bets are off.
My father, trying to raise five daughters, drove into our heads the dangers of going off alone. There certainly are lots of possibilities, even aside from the human danger. He may have done too good a job, as I’ve always had anxiety about going off into unknown territory by myself. The dangers are real enough, even if the risk of such events is low.
I don't understand people who bring music to the great outdoors.
I cannot properly conceive of the risk as I have never been afraid of being out in the wilderness alone (as a male).
I do understand that if I was to break a leg or whatnot and have no cell signal, I would be pretty much at the mercy of nature or whoever happened to come along later on my path.
