To: Recovering Ex-hippie

I didn’t say that any of those programs aren’t useful. And a variation of the same argument is made for each of them.
It’s well known we have the richest poor people in the world.
My point is looking for more ways to dump more money on them is not a productive exercise. For whatever reason, they remain as poor as they were before

you make a valid point about just giving the poor handouts.

WIC is unique in that for money given specifically for pre natal care and the infant it is time limited and avoids a child born w complex medical needs.
further it reduces the mother considering abortion.

any pregnant woman should also be given free pre natal alcohol/drug addiction programs if she is an addict..including supervised housing. very cost effective for the tax payor..as fetal alcohol syndrome is a huge problem for the life of the child.

Most all govt assistance for poor people is counter productive, I agree.

but the 2 above programs pay the taxpayor a lot in the long run.
