What puzzles me is why Jewish peoples vote almost exclusively democrat while there lies the seeds of their destruction.
Kinda... kinda not. American Jews living abroad in Israel, and Orthodox mostly vote like Texas republicans. In Israel they ran about 70% Trump.
Secular and reform types like Hollywood vote for democrats about like DC or NYC.
There are multiple theories. The first focuses in on the fact that many of the most ardent leftist Jews are also secular Jews. This is definitely part of it, as many of these secular Jews draw from their shared culture without the constraints of the religion to limit them.
Another thing is a common thread between leftism and religious Judaism (at least some parts of it... I don’t want to treat it as if it is just one set of beliefs). There is a sort of “prosperity gospel” (as a Christian might see it) in some sects of Judaism: the idea that God shows his favor by your success on Earth, and therefore, in some ways, a good believer will receive his reward on Earth (somewhat). If you extend this a bit (hence the cultural Jews, who don’t have the limiting restrictions of the religion) “Heaven on Earth” (or at least the achievement of some kind of earthly paradise) is not that far from the basic tenets of leftism. Both see man (and earth) as perfectible, and this explains why many of the cultural Jews are natural leftists. They aren’t looking for rewards after they die... they want them here and now (no matter who has to suffer/die for them)...
