Where does citizenship come from?

Some believe citizenship comes from the child’s parents and the child inherits citizenship from father and from mother.

On the other hand, some believe that citizenship comes from the soil, from the country where the child is born.

The only case where all would agree the child is a citizen, A “Natural Born Citizen”, is when the child is born in country to citizen parents.

That’s the only time when the citizenship inherited from father, mother and country is the same for each one.

If the President is going to be the Commander in Chief of all of us, then all of us need to agree that he or she is a citizen of us and has a natural born allegiance to us and to no one else.

Thus, Natural Born Citizenship defined as born in country to citizen parents has to be a requirement to be President.

As I posted upthread in post 16, Hamilton wrote about it Federalist #68.

This means there is an actual reference to "guarding against... a creature... raised... by foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils" in the Federalist Papers itself.

Hamilton called this "chief" amongst the "most deadly adversaries of republican government..."
