Just months after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, an al Qaeda supporter snuck onto American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to Miami with explosives packed into his shoes, but his failed attempt to detonate spared the lives of nearly 200 people and sent him to prison for the rest of his life.
According to the FBI, the 10 ounces of homemade explosives in his shoes were enough to blow a hole in the side of the plane and kill everyone on board.
"Shoe Bomber" Richard Reid, the 50-year-old British citizen who trained with the terror group in Pakistan and Afghanistan, is serving a life prison sentence at the U.S. Penitentiary in Florence, Colorado.

Perhaps his intelligent good looks gave him less media appeal.

Does anybody remember that Richard Reid did not have a passport or any other documents besides his airline ticket, and was escorted onto the plane bypassing all normal security procedures?
Plenty of passengers noticed the special treatment and mentioned it to authorities before and after the incident.
There were a number of features about this shoe bombing that were swept under the rug.
I am reasonably satisfied that Reid is still in prison. It does seem to me that a number of other people should have joined him there. And we are still putting up with these ridiculous "take you shoes off" policies at American Airport screening stations. They don't do that in Europe.

We have to watch out for liberals pardoning dangerous criminals.
Look what the governor of Louisiana just did.
For me, it’s a very strong argument in favor of capital punishment.
Bleeding heart democrats represent a clear and present danger to the public.

Because we don’t know if Richard Reid was acting on his own accord or under orders. We know nothing.
